Loved the options and service!
We went to Karibu due to the wonderful view and location at the Victoria Wharf, although not expecting too many options as my husband and I are vegans. We were very delighted and surprised that even though the menu is of traditional local dishes (most of which contain animals), there were also options for us, and they were truly delicious, for a fair price. Incredible night out in Cape Town
The service and the food was incredible. It was beyond our expectations. The manager was exceptional and and just wanted to provide us with an awesome experience. Both our servers and the somelier Paul we’re very attentive. We had the special meat platter with, ostrich, steak, kudoo and Impala, it was devine and cooked to perfection. Amazing!!
Absolutely incredible. One of my highlights from my holiday. Tiana and staff looked after me like I was family. I cannot thank Tiana enough for what she did for me today. Gave me a proper history lesson about the restaurant, explaining the intricate design though process which was incredible. She even introduced me to the managers brother! Could definitely tell she had a pure passion for the place, which is remarkable. You won’t find many individuals like her, she’s honestly a blessing to the place. And Bradley (my server), I think that is his name. Tremendous member of staff, who deserves the world. He made sure everything was well and regularly checked up on me to ensure I was satisfied with the service. Which allowed myself to feel so relaxed and feel like I was at home. To the food now, as a foreigner I was really spoilt for choice. But from recommendation from staff. I was able to make the right decision. Wonderful visit – excellent staff and high quality produce
We had a wonderful experience today at Karibu – we had high expectations after our driver recommended we visit for a taste of authentic South African food and Karibu did not disappoint.
From the moment we arrived our server, Clever, was warm and attentive – Clever made some excellent recommendations from the menu and we opted for a special meat platter after his advice…it was excellent! An absolute feast, and we devoured every morsel. Starters were also excellent – the trio of Briout and the Malay Chicken salad.
What sets Karibu apart was the staff – Clever pre-empted our every need and is truly exceptional at his job. Would recommend to anyone looking for a taste of South Africa, with a view and excellent service!

Great Service
My husband and I booked Karibu via an online reservation, and we were not disappointed. The food is varied, unique and good. Because I eat vegetarian, dining out can be difficult, but not here. I ate a vegan option featuring lentils, while my husband ate a variety game meal. It was delicious, and the attention to detail by our server was appreciated. The outdoor seating and surroundings were nice as well. I highly recommend Karibu if you’re in Cape Town. Click here to view
Karibu V&A Waterfront
A friend and I went to Karibu Restaurant at the V & A Waterfront, for the first time exploring the cuisine and we were not disappointed. Starters: bobotie springrolls and carpaccio, mains: Ostrich fillet and rump steak, Pudding: Amarula truffles – food was excellent and our waiter very friendly and helpful! They will see us again. Beautiful place by the Waterfront
I found the restaurant by chance but I am happy I did. My friend and I had such a good time at the Karibu! The food is amazing and the wine list is exquisite! The staff are really nice and professional! Trevor took really good care of us and whatever he had recommended us was indeed tasty. I knew by the time he recommended us the wines that he is doing an amazing job. Thank you, Trevor! Thanks to Owen as well who made sure my glass is not empty! Great drinks and beautiful view of the V&A waterfront
We came here for drinks while shopping. They had a good selection of cocktails and beer on draft. We had a nice table overlooking the waterfront. We didn’t try any of the food, but the smells were so nice that we almost stayed for dinner. The staff were really attentive and our drinks were never empty. We hope to come back and try the food.
